Key Vote NO on the Farm Bill Conference Report in the House

As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and ask that he or she vote NO on the Farm Bill conference report in the House, H.R. 2462.  This final agreement reached between the House and Senate actually manages to be worse than the bills passed by each chamber separately, and does nothing to contain the hundreds of billions in spending on corporate welfare for farm corporations and an out-of-control food stamp program.

Revised House Farm Bill: See How Your Reps. Voted Here

Today, the House Republican leadership pushed through a new version of the Farm Bill, just a few weeks after an earlier version of the bill failed spectacularly on the floor. It succeeded in passing, 216-208, attracting the majority of Republicans in spite of the fact that it contained no reforms at all that actually improved the bill or reduced its abundance of waste and corporate welfare. You can see the roll call vote HERE.

Key Vote NO on the New House Farm Bill

As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and urge him or her to vote NO on new House Farm Bill, H.R. 2642.House Leadership does deserve some slight praise for bringing forth a Farm Bill that is separate from the food stamp provisions that have served for decades as a mammoth earmark to attract Democratic support for the bill. However, splitting the food stamps and farm bill is a means to reform, not an end in itself.

Splitting the Farm Bill is Only the First Step Towards Reforms

Leading up to the fortunate failure of the Farm Bill on the floor of the House in June, conservatives have been urging Congress to separate the agricultural parts of the bill from the food stamp programs so that each major program could be debated and reformed on its own merits. The House leadership has responded by actually splitting the bill and offering an agriculture-only bill, which is an excellent move on their part.

Key Vote NO on the House Farm Bill

As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and urge him or her to vote NO on H.R. 1947, the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management (FARRM) Act. Although this bill is popularly known as the “Farm Bill”, eighty percent of the bill’s spending goes to food stamps, and much of the rest goes to subsidize large farm corporations at the expense of small family farms.

Key Vote NO on the Senate "Farm Bill"

Dear FreedomWorks member,As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to vote NO on the Senate’s version of the Farm Bill, S. 954. While it is entitled the “Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act of 2013”, this bill is a bloated microcosm of everything that is wrong with the federal government, containing corporate welfare, direct welfare, government subsidies and carve-outs for favored industries, and a brand new entitlement program to boot.

And God Made a “Taxpayer Subsidized” Farmer

Americans involved in agriculture are no longer the tenant farmers and sharecroppers of days past. I’ve yet to hear of a “disaster harvest” which forces the sale of the family cow. Banks are not repossessing their land, and the range wars between farmers and ranchers have long ended.
