Environmental Activists - Hugging Trees, Strangling Jobs

Controversial tactics used by far-left environmentalists are nothing new when it comes to advocating for the well-being of trees over the well-being of fellow Americans.  But taking a more in-depth look at the latest antics from a Daryl Hannah-backed outfit is no less important an exercise in demonstrating their lack of concern for economic and national security winners such as the Keystone XL pipeline, as it is an endless source of entertainment.

Is the Obama Administration Still Artificially Inflating Job Numbers By Counting 'Lives Touched'?

When last month's unemployment rate took a sudden and unexpected plunge to 7.8%, conservatives who thought there was something amiss took a beating in the media.  Jack Welch was particularly excoriated for a tweet he sent out suggesting that the numbers were fabricated, and others who had similar doubts were labeled condescendingly as 'unemployment rate truthers'.

Mind the Gap: The Disparity Between Obama's Revenue Increases and Spending on Entitlements

The following study demonstrates that the proposed revenue and tax increases being championed by President Obama will have a negligible impact on the ability of the federal government to finance entitlement programs over the next 15 years. Raising taxes risks economic growth without alleviating the budgetary crisis.

Unemployment in the United States (UnCensored)

The unemployment report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) today showed a .3 percent decrease in unemployment from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent for September. This will no doubt be a cause for celebration among supporters of the president's agenda. However, those who are really monitoring the vitality of the US economy won't be so quick to jump for joy.

Obama Is Not Improving Ohio's Economy - Fracking Is

At the Basic American Rights Seminar in Eugene, Oregon on September 29, the keynote speaker was Ann McElhinny, director of the documentaries Not Evil, Just Wrong and FrackNation.  Always an energetic speaker, one subject of her talk really stuck out.

A True Lack of “Economic Patriotism” in the White House

Ex-Ohio governor and current co-chairman of President Obama’s re-election campaign, Ted Strickland, called out Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s “economic patriotism” yesterday.  In an interview with the Youngstown Vindicator, located in the perpetually crucial swing state of Ohio, Strickland cited Romney’s overseas investments as an example of this lack of patriotism.

Government Regulation Slowing Energy Jobs and Economic Growth

With unemployment in the United States at 8.3%, job growth is something which should be encouraged. However, it would seem that the government is only interested in jobs that support their agenda.

Crab Cakes and Taxes: Why Maryland is Sinking

Liberals like to claim that they are the champions of the middle class.  They claim that without Democrats, ruthless Republicans would sell the little guy out to the evil corporations who, like Vampires on the hit HBO show “Trueblood”, would find joy in sucking you, the little guy, dry.  With all this class warfare rhetoric, it is hard to believe that Liberals have time to do anything, but that’s neither here nor there.

Obama Recovery is Dead Last in Job Growth

The Obama administration is fond of reminding the American public that private sector jobs have grown by 4.1% over the past 28 months. The detail they are leaving out, however, can be found in this Commentary by the Joint Economic Committee Republicans . Though private sector jobs have been growing, as the President claims, this is the slowest recovery in American history.

The GDP Seduction

The standard measure of our national economic output is the Gross Domestic Product or GDP. Judging economic performance on the formula for GDP virtually guarantees that government will spend money it doesn't have, whether that money comes from taxing, borrowing, or as is currently in vogue, simply printing it.The standard formula for GDP is:GDP = C + I + NX + G
