America is Shrugging

President Obama’s reelection triggered a ticking time bomb of fed up Americans. Across the country small businesses and large corporations alike are closing their doors or laying off hundreds of employees. The innovators and entrepreneurs of America have been weary of increasing government regulation for quite some time, now.

Will President Romney Seriously Tackle Entitlement Reform?

In the aftermath of the first Presidential debate last week, I wrote that it was an unmitigated success for Republican challenger Mitt Romney. While it was clear that it was a thorough tactical defeat that has vaulted Romney in the polls and placed Obama permanently on defense for the remainder of the campaign, there was a notable lack of focus on debt reduction.

Mind the Gap: The Disparity Between Obama's Revenue Increases and Spending on Entitlements

The following study demonstrates that the proposed revenue and tax increases being championed by President Obama will have a negligible impact on the ability of the federal government to finance entitlement programs over the next 15 years. Raising taxes risks economic growth without alleviating the budgetary crisis.

FreedomRadio: Dean Clancy on this Week's House Budget Votes

Click to listen! Yesterday, the House passed Paul Ryan's ten-year budget plan on mostly party lines while rejecting President Obama's budget unanimously. In my audio update this morning, I discuss the votes and give a brief look at the state of the national budget debate.

The Ryan (and Romney?) Budget

The House GOP budget proposal for the coming decade (2013-2022), released yesterday, is a mixture of boldness and caution, principle and compromise. Resembling and building on last year's House-passed "Ryan budget," the Path to Prosperity version 2.0 reads very much like a preview of a Romney Administration budget version 1.0. While not nearly as bold and principled as these debt-drenched times require, it would still be a major improvement over the status quo, and much better than what President Obama and congressional Democrats envision, namely, ever-bigger government.

Social Security is a Mandatory Ponzi Scheme

Rick Perry made headlines for calling Social Security a “Ponzi scheme” in last night’s presidential debate. Mitt Romney and statist media sources predictably attacked this position claiming that the insolvent program is A-Okay. To be fair, Rick Perry isn’t the only Republican candidate with the courage to speak truth to fiction about Social Security. Ron Paul has likely been calling the entitlement program a Ponzi scheme long before I was even born.
