Hey Coal Country - We Tried to Warn You

On the eve of Election Day, 2012, I wrote:Lurking quietly in the shadows, behind a wall of political rhetoric and campaign season hype, is a post-election surprise that could ring the death knell for the coal industry, killing massive amounts of jobs in states such as Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The Conflicting Interests Of Forest Certification Programs

For decades, the debate has raged over how best to manage private forestland to promote forest health while taking full economic advantage of our natural resources. Putting the Reins on Regulatory Authority

Over the past decade or so, there has been significant growth in the powers delegated to the unelected heads of regulatory agencies, colloquially known as “czars.” At last count, the Obama Administration has amassed 45 of these positions, more than any of his predecessors and all without the accountability of elected office.

Tell Congress to Stop the EPA Grants to Foreign Countries

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your Members of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor the Accountability in Grants Act of 2013, S. 558 in the Senate and H.R. 959 in the House.  Introduced by Senator Rand Paul (Ky.) and Congressman Ed Whitfield (Ky.-1), this legislation would stop the EPA from using Clean Air Act funds to give grants to programs outside the United States.

EPA's Attempt to Regulate the Rain Washes Away

In the process of regulating everything under the sun, (literally) the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently made a bold grab at regulating everything from the clouds as well. More specifically, they had to defend themselves in a court case in Virginia for the right to regulate the rainfall. The very fact that they would attempt something so bizarre is a clear indication that despite the departure of their red tape-wielding leader Lisa Jackson, the EPA has no intentions of easing off the regulatory gas pedal.
