CSE Key Votes S. 1751, the Class Action Fairness Act

Dear Senator,

On behalf of the 280,000 members of Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), I urge you to vote YES on S. 1751, the Class Action Fairness Act.

It’s time to stop trial lawyers from fleecing America’s judicial system by curbing abusive and frivolous class action lawsuits. The Class Action Fairness Act (S. 1751) will make it easier for class action suits to be moved to federal courts where judges serve life terms, have a greater degree of expertise, and have broader national interests than state judges.

Trial lawyers run a successful business by suing companies, going to a state court with judges elected with trial lawyer money, and “certifying” a class of plaintiffs – most of whom don’t even know they’re suing the company. They exploit the class action system and affect business operations nationwide without proper accountability. The system was intended to benefit the victims, not the lawyers.

The Class Action Fairness Act is an important step towards reforming this abused system.

Please support this crucial legislation and prevent trial lawyers from exploiting our legal system.

CSE will count the vote on S. 1751 as a KEY VOTE to be reported to our members in your state. This KEY VOTE will be used to determine your eligibility for our Jefferson Award, to be presented at the conclusion of the 108th Congress. This award is provided to those legislators that espouse the CSE principles of limited government, lower taxes, and more freedom.

Sincerely,

Paul Beckner,

President and CEO
