New Hampshire Introduces Social Security Resolution

The New Hampshire Social Security Resolution was introduced before the Executive Departments and Administration (ED&A)Committee of the State Senate on Feb. 4th by Sen. Russell Prescott. CSE Policy Analysis Max Pappas was on hand to provide expert oral and written testimony. (see photos below)

Pappas delivered 10 minutes of oral testimony on the need for Social Security reform and Personal Retirement Accounts, answered questions from the Senators for another 10 minutes, and submitted a 2,600 word written testimony for the New Hampshire official record. Pappas also presented the Senators with CSE folders including CSE information, a copy of the written testimony, further information on Personal Retirement Accounts, and lapel stickers with CSE’s logo and contact information, reading “Personal Retirement Accounts.”

Sens. Joseph D. Kenney (R-Wakefield) and Andrew R. Peterson (R-Peterborough) seemed particularly interested in the issue as they asked numerous questions to gain a firmer grasp of the issue at hand.

To close his testimony Pappas said, “Personal Retirement Accounts will improve the retirement prospects of all members of our society, both monetarily by offering higher returns, and emotionally by offering everyone the freedom to choose the sort of retirement they most prefer. And, most importantly, they will offer average citizens the dignity of not having to rely on the benevolence of the government in their old age.”

NH CSE Director Chuck McGee followed with additional comments and showed his expertise on the issue by answering further questions for the Senators.
