NH Republicans Betray Party Platform with Medicaid Expansion Plan

On Thursday, New Hampshire legislators are scheduled to vote on a proposal to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. Conservative Republicans in several state governments have led the charge to opt out of implementing Medicaid expansion due to the increased costs state budgets will be forced to adopt. However, the New Hampshire GOP establishment has crafted a plan that invites crony capitalism and will force New Hampshire to adopt revenue-increasing mechanisms, such as a state income tax, to pay for the implementation of Medicaid expansion.

To Win, We Must First Admit That We Lost

Excusing defeat is a sure way to keep losing. In the 2012 election, conservatives, libertarians, and tea party groups were outworked and outvoted by an array of forces that should have been demoralized and bitter, but instead focused on their common enemy and working together. If we want to avoid a repeat of that performance in 2014 and 2016, we must first recognize one reality: We lost.

Don't Call Me a True Conservative

The issue is not who is conservative, but who is willing to gamble his own power to achieve a result beneficial to everyone.  In the power struggle between the DC Establishment and grassroots, labeling of the two sides often conceals the battle lines.  Language frames the debate, and I am still not completely comfortable with the labels "establishment" and "grassroots".  I'm even more uncomfortable with the labels "true conservative" and "RINO", as they don't describe at all what the fuss is about.

Final Draft Of Debt Ceiling Script For GOP Failure

Forget all the post-election hand wringing over shifting demographics and outreach, the real problem for Republicans remains their complete inability to craft a narrative of their own or, more importantly, to counter false narratives created by the Democrats. In the Age of Obama, this has become akin to a formulaic Hollywood horror franchise with only minor tweaks to each script. Think "Friday the 13th", only much, much scarier when the real consequences are fully realized.
