Wisconsin FreedomWorks Ramps Up Social Security Campaign

As the debate over Social Security unfolds in Washington, D.C., FreedomWorks is mobilizing its state chapters in support of the creation of personal retirement accounts that individual workers can own and control.

Wisconsin FreedomWorks is leading the charge and this week is contacting WI federal legislators. An example of a recent letter follows. Keep up the great work!

Dear Congressman Sensenbrenner:

In the last five years I have lived in your legislative district, I have
written you several times concerning legislation or proposed legislation
about which I was concerned. I am pleased that virtually every time, your stance on the issues mirrored my own, whether it was taxes, immigration, etc.

As a 29-year-old father of three young children living in one of the
nation’s most highly taxes states, there is one issue which I feel is currently the most pressing concern to my generation and that is social security reform. As you know, the current social security system is fatally flawed and will be barely solvent when my parents retire, and has no chance at being there in my retirement. The only way for me to effectively ‘save’ my social security is via Personal Retirement Accounts and that is why I strongly urge you to support reforming the system to allow younger workers to invest their money into these accounts.

I had the pleasure of attending a CSE/Freedom Works forum last year on this topic, featuring your colleague Paul Ryan. Congressman Ryan has a plan that will save social security for my generation as well as future ones– while meeting the obligations of current and near-term retirees– and I hope you
support his legislation.

Thank you in advance for your careful consideration and thought on this
matter. It is an honor to have you as my Congressman.

Continued Success,

Troy R. Fullerton
