FreedomWorks’ Max Pappas on Latin America Social Security Panel

Today, FreedomWorks Director of Policy Max Pappas spoke to over 55 young Latin American leaders from around country. The event was held in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill and sponsored by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and LULAC National Educational Service Center (LNESC).

The event is part of the group’s longest running and most acclaimed program the LULAC Washington Youth Leadership Seminar, where young leaders come to Washington to work on major policy issues with policy leaders. This year the group focused on Social Security. Pappas was invited to speak about reforming Social Security and how personal retirement accounts work. Joining Pappas on the panel were William W. Beach, Director of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis and Mark Weisbrot, Co-Director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research.

The group of mainly 17-21 year olds was very well informed, asked great questions about reform, and seemed to widely support the idea of personal accounts and the ownership it would bring to all Americans.
