Obama Administration - Regulating Businesses Into Submission

Regulations and red tape - a recovery's worst nightmare.During a meeting in December of 2008 between Barack Obama and a team of his top economic advisers, the President-elect told his group that "government should help facilitate private ventures by removing bureaucratic red tape."Now however, the ability of businesses and their owners to pull out of the economic doldrums it seems, is being hamstrung in part by the regulatory and red tape machine that is the Obama administration.

A True Lack of “Economic Patriotism” in the White House

Ex-Ohio governor and current co-chairman of President Obama’s re-election campaign, Ted Strickland, called out Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s “economic patriotism” yesterday.  In an interview with the Youngstown Vindicator, located in the perpetually crucial swing state of Ohio, Strickland cited Romney’s overseas investments as an example of this lack of patriotism.

Obama Obfuscates His “Prairie Fire of Debt”

Democracy and Power 108:  Obfuscation Wherever politics intrudes upon economic life, political success is readily attained by saying what people like to hear rather than what is demonstrably true. Instead of safeguarding truth and honesty, the state then tends to become a major source of insincerity and mendacity. – Hans F. Sennholz

III. How Do We End ObamaCare?

Note: This is the final part of a three part series on ObamaCare. If so few Americans actually like ObamaCare, where did the support for it come from in the first place?

II. Why Wouldn’t People Like ObamaCare?

Note: This is part two of a three part series on ObamaCare. How should we understand the ugly polling numbers for ObamaCare? It may be helpful to consider various groups of Americans in order to understand what they could find objectionable in ObamaCare.

I. Who Actually Likes ObamaCare?

Note: This is part one of a three part series on ObamaCare.President Obama recently unveiled his new media strategy of “owning” ObamaCare. He began with a Twitter campaign that urged supporters to list the benefits they plan to receive under the health care law while using the tag “#ILikeObamaCare”. Unfortunately for the president, this tag was immediately co-opted by sarcastic conservatives who used it while criticizing ObamaCare.

General Electric is 'Winning the Future'

General Electric reported that its first-quarter earnings have increased by 77 percent compared to the fourth-quarter of 2010.  This comes as the New York Times reported that GE paid zilch on their taxes, while raking in over $14 billion in profits in 2010.  Even worse, GE actually received $3.2 billion in tax benefits.

Meet the New Boss, Same As the Old Boss

"I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't get fooled again No, no!, Meet the new boss Same as the old boss" - The Who, "We Won't Get Fooled Again"What The Who lament here is that despite how things change, they always stay the same. With politics and power, nothing rings more true.
