Hey Republicans: “I don’t like the president” is not a legislative agenda

If Republicans manage to win the control of the Senate, it will not be because the party put forward an ambitious, principled agenda that inspired and motivated voters. In fact, according to data released last week by Gallup, voter engagement is at its lowest since 2002, when the GOP picked up two seats to win control of the upper chamber, and almost certainly will translate into lower voter turnout.

Republican Congressmen Plan Strategy To Delay Obamacare

Now that the Continuing Resolution has been returned to the House of Representatives with funding restored for Obamacare, the Republicans are faced with a choice. Do they press for defunding now, with the strong possibility of a fight over a government shutdown, or instead push for a delay of the implementation of Obamacare?

The Government Shutdown: Who is really to Blame?

The fight to defund Obamacare has been heating up quite a bit recently.  As the battle over the current Continuing Resolution to fund the government comes to a head, the Democrats in the Senate have lobbed many serious accusations against conservatives.

The Failure Of The War On Poverty

In 1930, the unemployment rate among African Americans was lower than it was for whites. That's right, at the height of the Great Depression, blacks were more likely to be employed than whites. 1930 was also the last year that we saw that happen.

How Republicans Plan to Use the ObamaCare Exemption in 2014

In a ruling issued earlier this month, the Office of Personnel Management, at the behest of President Obama, issued a ruling that would allow Congress and their staff to escape parts of the Obamacare threat that would have left them facing a possible loss of benefits and sharply higher costs for premiums. These are the same threats the rest of America also worries about.

Republicans Want to Give Obama More Power? Why Do We Lose Elections?

In the constant stream of pixels, ions, electrons and hot air that passes by at a constant and overwhelming rate that is akin to the speed of light, two articles caught my attention on Wednesday. The latest waste of attention is on the looming sequester cuts that are set to hit on Friday, that would have the 'devastating' effect of cutting $85 Billion in budget increases from a non-budget that is already over a trillion in the hole.

Low-Information Voters, Low-Information Politicians

It's the messaging, stupid.Much has been made since the past election cycle regarding the GOP's inability to reach out to voters.  While doing so, many are focusing on the voter themselves, or as Rush Limbaugh refers to them - the low-information voter.

Political Jujitsu: Fixing the GOP’s Messaging Problem

Since November's debacle, hundreds of conservative pundits and activists have wrung their hands over the GOP’s messaging problem. Luckily for Republicans my background is in branding, marketing and communications, so let's fix this.In today's mainstream media, conservatives can't catch a break. Epic Democratic catastrophes are ignored while minor Republican faux pas are branded as threats to the republic. Among the chattering classes liberalism has all the power; that won’t be reversed overnight. So conservatives must use liberals' power against them.

Interview: Lt. Col. Allen West (R-FL)

Allen West dropped by the Blogger Hangout at the RNC Convention on August 30, and was very gracious with his time. On his legislative agenda for 2013, he discussed tax reform and regulatory reform as a means to unleash small business success. He took a quick little shot at Harry Reid too, challenging him to pass the job creating legislation that has been blocked from a full vote at the Senate. I asked him about Sen. McCain's Convention remarks about the current state of the Middle East.

Why Republican Governors Should Oppose State Exchanges

ObamaCare needs to go, and FreedomWorks has a Five Point Plan for Full Repeal. One of best ways states can stop ObamaCare's unprecedented intrusion into the lives and pockets of their citizens is to block the creation of health care exchanges.
