Tesla is Lose/Lose for American Taxpayers

Our government doesn’t have a lot of extra cash, but that doesn’t seem to stop them from handing it out to their buddies. That’s not really a fiscally responsible way to live but, hey, that’s never stopped them before. It’s kind of like loaning money to your friend who has a great idea that may or may not work, but you’re willing to take the risk.

Keystone Pipeline: Suddenly the President Opposes Temporary Jobs

President Obama recently gave a wide-ranging interview to the New York Times, in which the topic of the Keystone pipeline was rehashed.  In it, the President mocked the idea that Keystone could be a job creator as Republicans have touted, because those jobs would be temporary construction positions.

The Battle Against Common Core Standards

Quietly and almost without notice, an initiative which significantly erodes local and state control of school curriculum has passed in 46 states. The Common Core Standards Initiative sets Math and English curriculum in every participating state at the same level. In adopting this “common core” states are relinquishing their right to compose their own education requirements.

There’s No Such Thing as a Free Launch

"If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there'd be a shortage of sand." — Milton FriedmanAs President Obama took office in 2009, I sold electronic health records, which track a patient’s medical history by computer instead of by hand. For a couple of decades, companies like mine had helped medical providers save money while they improved their patients’ quality of care. Once we installed and launched EHR software at a doctor’s office or hospital, it was a win for everyone.

The $2 Billion Stimulus Disaster You've Never Heard About

In 2009, the celebration was on for an oddly-named company known as CH2M Hill. The engineering firm, performing the vast majority of the work at a cleanup project located on the Hanford Nuclear Site in eastern Washington, had just received word of a $1.96 billion reward in stimulus money for their services.

Office Hours with Dr. Brough: “Is Obama’s Recovery Working?”

We get a lot of e-mails at FreedomWorks from people who want to know which economic policies we endorse and why we endorse them. This is a good thing. Economics is a specialty, and it does the republic no good when people pretend to understand economics but aren’t available to discuss their ideas. (This is only a slight jab at Paul Krugman’s debate jitters).

Delphi Pension Scandal: A Story That Should Be Bigger

While it's true that national campaigns, especially the presidential, have to focus on broader themes and stay on message, there remains a laundry list of specifics that down-ticket candidates and new media types could and should be relentlessly hammering away at. Most notable among the topics are the Fast and Furious scandal, the failure of Solyndra and other stimulus backed "green" initiatives and the cronyism involved in implementing the Affordable Care Act in the form of waivers to Big Labor and other strong Obama supporters.
