Louisiana Needs Budget Reform, Not Tax Repression

In Louisiana, fiscal integrity is going from bad to worse. Already, the state is facing the largest budget deficit in its entire history, at a whopping $700 million this year, and shortfall projections for next year reaching as high as $1.9 billion. However, in a misguided attempt to try to solve this behemoth of a problem, newly-elected Governor John Bel Edwards has proposed a massive package of tax hikes that affect all walks of life, from personal income to industry. What’s worse, if he has his way in imposing these hikes, the state residents could be feeling the brunt of the costs as early as April of this year. Clearly, Edwards isn’t fixing what ails the state.

Barack Obama plans to pay for budget-busting spending increases with growth-stunting tax hikes

President Barack Obama has tipped his hand on how he plans to pay for his budget-busting spending increases. Media reports indicate that he plans to roll out several tax hikes totalling $320 billion in his State of the Union address on Tuesday, including raising the capital gains rate and imposing a tax on big banks' liabilities.

The Lessons from Plan B

If President Obama and Senator Reid were actually negotiating in good faith, then one could argue that Speaker Boehner's Plan B was an acceptable, if unpalatable, compromise.  After all, it permanently extended the current tax rates for very nearly all Americans, eliminating the annual game of chicken in Congress over whether our taxes will automatically increase.

According to Obama, the Government Built Your Business

Barack Obama has yet again taken credit away from individual success and attributed it to the government, sending small business owners one simple message: “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” If this doesn’t further prove that Obama is unfit to lead a country based on the splendor of a free market system, then I’m at a loss as to what will.

US Economy threatened in wake of Obama's Taxmageddon

Obama seems to have one goal in mind this election: creating an even greater gap between Republicans and Democrats. I must admit, he’s doing a great job of it, stoking class warfare and feeding the media and his supporters left-wing lies. Did you hear the GOP is nothing but a bunch of wealthy and corrupt people that have no interest in the good of the lower and middle class citizens?

Obama v. Kennedy on Tax Hikes

During President Obama’s speech in Cleveland, he indicated that he still wants to raise taxes on small businesses making over $250,000 a year on January 1st. He criticized House Minority Leader John Boehner for wanting to extend  tax cuts to the "rich" claiming that these were "not new ideas." He stated:

Help Stop Tax Hikes in Washington State!

It’s not February 2nd yet, but you wouldn’t be alone if you thought this was a scene straight from the Bill Murray movie “Groundhog Day.” That’s because, once again, legislators in Olympia are proposing a rash of tax hikes to fill the growing budget gap. Despite the fact that tax hikes of the past haven’t fixed the problem, politicians seem to see no reason why more money shouldn’t be tossed at the holes in the state finances.
