Flatonia, Texas had its first ever tea party protest this past weekend. The new group celebrated the one year anniversary of the tea party movement that began on Feb. 27th, 2009. There were more than 350 people in attendance in a town of only 1300!

The New York Times reported recently that FreedomWorks chairman Dick Armey has endorsed Sen. John McCain in the GOP primary in Arizona. This is not the case, although this story has been picked up and repeated by countless media personalities and reporters around the country.

This seems to be a good case study in how false information can make its way around the internet and the airwaves before it can be corrected. But we wanted to post a quick statement for all of you who have asked us about this.

On February 27th, 2009 thousands of Americans heeded the call of CNBC's Rick Santelli and took to the streets in dozens of cities across the country to protest bailouts and wasteful spending. The American people were angered by President Bush's TARP bailout and the prospect of a mortgage bailout by the new president, Barack Obama.

This first major wave of street protests on February 27th ignited a massive, national protest movement against big government, and swept the country in a matter of weeks. Many of you participated in the original wave of protests, and some even led them.
