Group calls today ‘Tax freedom day’

“Tax freedom day” in Texas is today, when according to the Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy, average El Pasoans stop working for the government and start working for themselves for the first time this year.

Officials at the Tax Foundation in Washington, D.C., said average Texans had to work 118 days to pay their tax bill this year. Average Americans will work 123 days to pay their taxes.
