Kent Lassman Rejoins FreedomWorks as Vice President for Strategy

FreedomWorks is pleased to welcome back Kent Lassman, who rejoins the national grassroots advocacy organization as Vice President for Strategy. Lassman was the Director of Technology and Communications Policy at FreedomWorks’ predecessor organization, Citizens For a Sound Economy from 1996 to 2001, and was instrumental in building the institutions to coordinate hundreds of thousands of grassroots activists across the country. Mr. Lassman will pick up where he left off by developing FreedomWorks’ national multi-million dollar voter education effort and continuing to promote FreedomWorks’ message of lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.

Prior to rejoining FreedomWorks, Mr. Lassman was a research fellow at The Progress & Freedom Foundation where he was responsible the foundation’s state and local research and educational programs. Mr. Lassman is the author of more than 75 policy papers, opinion-editorials, and essays. His work has been published by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Manchester Union-Leader, the Wall Street Journal, and National Review Online. He has testified before Congress, state legislatures and in regulatory proceedings and briefed governors, members of Congress and presidential candidates. Since 2003, he has served on the President’s Advisory Council for the State Policy Network.

Mr. Lassman graduated from The Catholic University of America with honors for work on market theory and he is currently a candidate for a master’s degree in public administration at North Carolina State University. He was also awarded a 2006 E.A. Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders from the John Locke Foundation.

Kent Lassman commented, “I’ve traveled all around America and worked on policy issues in more than 30 states. When it comes to measurable success – implementing free market reforms – FreedomWorks is the premier grassroots organization in the nation and I’m delighted to be back. Grassroots politics is the hand-to-hand combat of the political world, and I am eager to roll up my sleeves and jump into the most important issues of the day.”

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe added, “We’re glad to welcome Kent back to FreedomWorks. As our grassroots organization continues to grow, it is a privilege to add talented individuals like Kent to the team. We have a busy election year ahead of us and Kent’s familiarity with the organization and political experience and will help us move our Freedom Agenda forward.”
