FreedomWorks Targets Hearing on Greenhouse Gas Regulations to Stop Backdoor Cap and Trade

Washington, DC – The Energy and Power Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee is holding a hearing on Tuesday, March 1, to address the impact of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) greenhouse gas regulations on American jobs.

Conservative leaders in the Energy and Commerce Committee including Chairman Fred Upton (R, MI-6), have been grappling with regulatory abuse at EPA bent on enacting a cap and trade carbon emissions scheme that would threaten American jobs and spike energy costs without tangible environmental benefit.  Hearings like this one will help expose the danger of the agency’s rogue behavior and spur Congressional action to stop them.

FreedomWorks has launched a concentrated grassroots campaign to support efforts to halt regulatory abuse at EPA and other agencies under the Obama Administration’s control and will use events such as this hearing as a rallying-cry to put targeted pressure on moderate and centrist members.  Grassroots activists will be mobilized to write, call, and visit one-on-one with their elected officials to stop EPA’s backdoor cap and trade strategy.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented, “EPA’s attempted end-run around Congress to enact cap and trade will not stand.  Tea Party activists from all over the country know what they are up to and will work tirelessly to ensure limited government stalwarts in Congress take steps to rein them in.”
