FreedomWorks: Disappointment with Passage of H.Res 520

Dear Representative,

On behalf of more than 700,000 FreedomWorks members nationwide, I am writing to voice our collective disappointment in the passage of H.Res 520, the Agriculture Appropriations Conference Report rule because the conference report exceeds the Budget Resolution.

As the CBO has reported, the conference report violates the FY06 budget resolution by $199 million by exceeding the Ag 302(b) allocation. As a result, the Rule asked Members to waive a point of order lying against H.R. 2744, and thus waive the budget resolution.

This is cause for concern in its own right, and ads to the growing concern over runaway spending, as this is the third of four conference reports this year that have exceeded the budget.

The American people, and FreedomWorks activists in particular, have continually supported candidates calling for limited government. It is what brought many Congressmen their current majority positions. The continual violation of such campaign promises has not gone unnoticed, and the time for correcting these errors is running out.

In the coming weeks, it is our hope that this Congress will redeem itself by turning back the overspending tide by taking up the sound recommendations found in Operation Offset.

Sincerely,

Matt Kibbe
