North Carolina FreedomWorks Meets in Winston Salem

In the name of our FreedomWorks mantra of “Lower Taxes, Less Government, and More Freedom”, on Wednesday, August 8, FreedomWorks activists from across the state traveled to Winston Salem for a lunch time meeting.

North Carolina FreedomWorks State Director, Allen Page welcomed the group and thanked them for caring enough to spend their day working for freedom!

The event’s activities began with FreedomWorks activists filming a video for YouTube.  FreedomWorks plans to submit the video for use in the You Tube presidential debate.  North Carolina FreedomWorks Grassroots Coordinator Joyce Krawiec moderated the video asking candidates to respond to three issues: support of social security reform, repeal of the death tax, and the practice of “cap and trade”.  FreedomWorks members support social security reform, support the repeal of the death tax, and are extremely concerned about rising energy costs as elected official support environmental extremist principles.  Joining the death tax protest was “The Grim Reaper”.  Joining the environmental extremism protest was an absolutely adorable panda representing the need to “Stop Pandering to Environmental Extremism!”

Following the filming of our video, speakers wrapped up the 2007 Legislative Long Session and spoke of issues on the table for our Legislative Short Session.

Featured speakers were Kathy Hartkopf, Legislative Liaison for North Carolina FreedomWorks and Chad Adams, Director of the Center for Local Innovation.

The event came to a close with reports from county chapters.

Thank you again to all those who joined us for this important event.   Thank you especially for the work you do in the name of “Lower Taxes, Less Government, and More Freedom”!
