ObamaCare: Dems Indirectly Admit Immoral Governance

Democracy and Power 110: Majority Leader of the Senate and the Speaker of the House

In order to get power and retain it, it is necessary to love power; but love of power is not connected with goodness but with qualities that are the opposite of goodness, such as pride, cunning, and cruelty. —Leo Tolstoy

ObamaCare: Dems Indirectly Admit Immoral Governance

Celinda Lake, a major pollster and spin-master, has advised the Democrats:

“In terms of Obamacare, don’t defend it, say it was flawed from the beginning, and we’re going to fix it,” said Lake at a poll briefing hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

What an indictment of power and politics in DC! So, the Democrats are going to tell Americans that “ObamaCare is flawed from the beginning.” How about, “Sorry; raw political power prevailed over honest governance?” How about saying sorry to the millions of Americans impacted because of immoral governance?

*Directly, ObamaCare has denied people of their health insurance, their doctors and has harmfully limited their choice of hospitals – especially excellent hospitals.

*ObamaCare mandates employers with more than 50 full time equivalent employees must provide health insurance or pay a big penalty. Thus, employers have decreased working hours as well as the number of employees within their company. Through these adjustments, millions of Americans have been impacted with less work and less pay.

*Millions of Americans have increased premiums and opted for higher deductibles. Most medical insurance analysts predict the premiums will skyrocket next year.

*Most conservative economists opine the total economy has been negatively impacted, and our economic growth has been less than previous recoveries.

Exerting raw political power, President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Reid coerced Democrats to vote for ObamaCare. Using procedural tricks and buying votes – remember the Louisiana Purchase, they cobbled together ObamaCare at the expense of good and honest governance. As Nancy Pelosi infamously exposed, “But we have to pass the [health care] bill so that you can find out what’s in it….”

Instead of an open debate and serious contemplation, Pelosi and Reid rammed a law through giving almost total rule-making authority to the bureaucracy. Then, Secretary Sebelius directed the bureaucracy to manipulate the rules depriving hundreds of thousands of their insurance while President Obama continued to say, “You can keep your insurance.” This is OUTRAGEOUS!

Now the spin-master says, “In terms of Obamacare, don’t defend it, say it was flawed from the beginning, and we’re going to fix it.”

Again, how about saying sorry to the millions of Americans impacted because of immoral governance?
