Why Did Sen Mary Landrieu Deal The Race Card

Facing a very tough re-election battle in Louisiana, Democrat Mary Landrieu joined other desperate Democrats by tossing the race card into her campaign.

Talking with NBC News correspondent Chuck Todd, Landrieu suggested President Obama’s unpopularity in her state was because he is black.

“I’ll be very, very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans,” Landrieu told NBC News in an interview. “It’s been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very positive light as a leader.”

Landrieu also whined about the difficulties of being a female politician in the south.

It”s not always been a good place for women to present ourselves. It’s more of a conservative place. So we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that, but you know, the people trust me, I believe. Really they do. Trust me to do the right thing for the state."

The facts remain that Obama is unpopular because of his policies including ObamaCare and his war on traditional energy – oil and natural gas production represents a huge part of the economy in Louisiana.

Despite her attempts to distance herself from Obama, Landrieu has voted with the president 97 percent of the time.

Landrieu needs the black vote to win which is why she dealt the race card to drive that voting bloc to the polls.

Landrieu’s race comment is shameless and desperate but that’s what liberals do when they fear losing power.
