FreedomWorks Urges House GOP to Decentralize the Legislative Process

The House Freedom Caucus scored a major victory on Wednesday when House Republican leaders announced that they will seek potential rule changes to open up the legislative process. The lack of an open process has been among the central grievances of the group of about 40 fiscally conservative and liberty-minded members.

Following the announcement, FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon commented:

"This is a step in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go to bring back regular order to the House of Representatives. Trading political favors in backroom deals to move legislation is no longer acceptable to the American public. The legislative process must be more decentralized and open."

"We look forward to seeing the rule changes proposed by the House Freedom Caucus, and we’ll continue to support these bold and principled Members as they work to change the culture of the chamber."
