Key Votes on Amendments to the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act, H.R. 3354 (Part II)

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to vote on amendments offered to the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act, H.R. 3354, in the manner prescribed on each amendment below. As is always the case, FreedomWorks reserves the right to key vote any amendment brought to the floor for a vote.

YES – Amendment #29: Sponsored by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), this amendment would cut funding for the Environmental Protection Administration’s (EPA) Environmental Programs and Management Account by $10.234 million and redirect the savings to the EPA’s Spending Reduction Account.

YES – Amendment #55: Sponsored by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), this amendment would make a 1 percent across the board rescission to Division A, which authorizes appropriations for Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.

YES – Amendment #77: Sponsored by Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), this amendment would reduce the appropriation to the EPA for FY 2018 by $1.869 billion.

YES – Amendment #126: Sponsored by Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), this amendment would prohibit the use of funds authorized by Division C from being used for adoptive seizures, through which state and local agencies can circumvent protective state laws to seek forfeiture of seized assets under federal forfeiture laws. Civil asset forfeiture is a pernicious practice that throws due process out of the window and allows permanent seizure of assets based on an extraordinarily low evidentiary standard.

YES – Amendment #129: Sponsored by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), this amendment would prohibit the use of funds in Division C from being used to implement the Attorney General’s July 19 directive related to the expansion of the use civil asset forfeiture.

YES – Amendment #170: Sponsored by Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.), this amendment would reduce the funding for the National Labor Relations Board (NRLB) by $99 million and transfer the savings to the Spending Reduction Account.

YES – Amendment #174: Sponsored by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), this amendment would make a 1 percent across the board rescission to Division F, which authorizes appropriations for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies.

YES – Amendment #203: Sponsored by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), this amendment would make a 1 percent across the board rescission to Division D, which authorizes appropriations for Financial Services and General Government Appropriations.

FreedomWorks will count the vote on these amendments to the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act, H.R. 3354, on our 2017 Congressional Scorecard and reserves the right to score votes for amendments not listed above. The scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the FreedomFighter Award, which recognizes Members of the House and Senate who consistently vote to support economic freedom and individual liberty.
