FreedomWorks Applauds President Trump for Signing Right to Try

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks applauds President Trump’s decision today to sign the Trickett Wendler, Frank Mongiello, Jordan McLinn, and Matthew Bellina Right to Try Act, S. 204, into law.

This federal right to try legislation will allow terminally ill patients access to experimental drugs that have cleared the initial round of FDA safety testing. Last week the House voted 250-169 in favor of the bill, which the Senate had passed unanimously last summer.

In recent weeks, FreedomWorks grassroots activists sent nearly a quarter of a million messages and made more than 2000 phone calls to Congress in support of right to try.

FreedomWorks President Adam Brandon commented:

“Whether it’s your neighbor or elderly relative, so many Americans have loved ones who will benefit from the right to try. Terminally ill Americans can finally take control of their own health. After all, a right to try is a right to fight for your life.”

“President Trump has delivered on another of his State of the Union promises. His decision today is a big win for everyday Americans over big government and defunct bureaucracy — it never was the government’s place to deny terminally ill patients hope, and it no longer will be.”
