FreedomWorks vs. SVFEEP on Charlie & Ernie!

Tomorrow (Wednesday, April 13 at 7:10 am, AM620) FreedomWorks-Vermont State Director Rob Roper will face off against John Berkowitz, Executive Director of Southern Vermonters for a Fair Economy and Environmental Protection. SVEEP just held a rally at the State House calling on the Governor to raise taxes to fix the Medicaid deficit.

The SVFEEP proposal calls for increasing the top personal income tax rate, eliminating the 40 percent exclusion on capitol gains income, revoking corporate tax cuts, creating a sales tax on accounting, architectural, engineering and financial services, and increasing the property transfer tax on sales of property over $300,000.

Roper said, “This is a direct assault on Vermont’s successful small businesses. If such a proposal were ever adopted, it would have a devastating effect on Vermont’s already overtaxed economy. Big businesses have already left the state in alarming numbers because of high taxes and regulation. We cannot afford to make the same kinds of mistakes that will drive out the small businesses, too, as well as retired individuals living on fixed investment incomes. It’s not fair and it’s not smart.”
