North Carolina FreedomWorks Activists Participate In Tax Victory Press Conference

NORTH CAROLINA, Wednesday, November 7, 2006.

They got up early.  They traveled from across North Carolina.  They came to celebrate the incredible voter voice of NO NEW TAXES!

On Wednesday, November 7, North Carolina FreedomWorks activists traveled to Raleigh to participate in a press conference.  The conference, hosted by North Carolina Americans for Prosperity, celebrated our unanimous victory against proposed real estate transfer tax increases in 16 North Carolina Counties.  The press conference was also the perfect opportunity to put remaining county boards of commission on notice that the voters have spoken clearly again such a tax increase and that if additional counties ballot the proposed increase, the grassroots army will be ready to rumble!

A sea of FreedomWorks t-shirts surrounded the podium where Dallas Woodhouse, State Director, NC AFP led the conference.  Kathy Hartkopf, Legislative Liaison, for NC FreedomWorks spoke next, ending her remarks with, “We believe that FreedomWorks!”  NC House Minority Leader Paul “Skip” Stam also spoke, explaining how legislators came to authorizing counties to ballot this tax proposal and saying that he will call on legislators to repeal the obviously unpopular decision!

After the press conference, North Carolina FreedomActivists went to the state legislature to be photographed in front of what one activist explained, “This is our building.  Sometimes they need to be reminded.  This is our building!”
