Key Vote YES on the Full Repeal of ObamaCare, H.R. 596

As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and urge him or her to vote YES on H.R. 596, a bill to fully repeal ObamaCare. Introduced by Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.), it would repeal both the full Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the additional health care provisions that were added in the Health Care Reconciliation Act later, and also instructs House committees to begin producing the patient-centered reforms to replace them.

A year into its full implementation, ObamaCare has already displaced millions of Americans from the insurance and doctors they already had, and has driven up premiums sharply for millions more. Many of those who did buy plans through ObamaCare’s health insurance exchanges are finding that the only plans that they can afford have deductibles and co-pays that they cannot afford.

Adding insult to injury, this year, for the first time, Americans who chose not to buy an expensive government-mandated insurance plan will be stung by the individual mandate tax, with businesses set to follow suit next year. It’s no wonder that the latest Gallup poll on ObamaCare shows that 56 percent of Americans disapprove of the law.

The health care law is not, as some have suggested, “fixable” – its entire structure creates all of the wrong incentives for actually reducing the cost or improving the quality of health care. In order to truly reform health care in a way that improves access and outcomes for patients, we absolutely must get rid of ObamaCare first. This bill represents conservatives’ continuing commitment to that goal.

Thus, I hope that you’ll tell your representative to vote YES on repealing ObamaCare. We will count his or her vote as a KEY VOTE in FreedomWorks’ Economic Freedom Scorecard for 2015. The Scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the FreedomFighter Award, which recognizes members of Congress with voting records that support economic freedom.

Sincerely,
