Regulatory Action Center Submits Comments to Urge HHS Oversight on Organ Donations

The FreedomWorks Foundation's Regulatory Action Center (RAC) submitted formal comments to the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) to urge greater oversight of Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO). These OPOs essentially have a government-granted monopoly on organ recovery. However, they routinely waste taxpayer dollars and leave many struggling to receive organs that should have easily been obtained.

RAC Drives Comments on Interior's Hunting, Fishing Proposal

FreedomWorks Foundation's Regulatory Action Center (RAC) is driving comments in support of the Department of Interior's recent proposal related to hunting and fishing regulations. The proposal would provide new or expanded hunting and fishing opportunities at 74 national wildlife refuges and 15 national fish hatcheries managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) across more than 1.4 million acres of land. It would also harmonize federal regulations with state regulations in many cases. This would decrease the patchwork of red tape hunters and fishers have to navigate and would give more power to state and local authorities to determine what's best.

Regulatory Action Center Submits Formal Comments to Nuclear Regulatory Commission

The FreedomWorks Foundation's Regulatory Action Center (RAC) submitted formal comments to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in support of reforms to nuclear licensing fees. A reform to the structure of licensing fees would make it less expensive to operate a nuclear power plant and would ensure operators were not being charged by the government before they even begin service. This could lower energy costs for Americans.

Issue Analysis

By Any Other Name: Price Controls are Price Controls

Many conservatives and right-of-center political analysts are rightly upset about Health and Human Service Secretary Alex Azar’s proposal to tie drug prices in the United States to those in foreign nations. Such a proposal would make our healthcare system dependent on the whims of nations that subscribe to command and control economic models. There is also the stark reality that imposing price controls does not fix any underlying issues that caused prices to be high in the first place.

FreedomWorks' Bill of the Month for June 2019: The Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act, H.R. 1035

FreedomWorks is proud to announce that our bill of the month for June 2019 is the Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act, H.R. 1035, sponsored by Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.). The Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act would require greater transparency and accountability from pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). This would lower prices for patients, families, and caregivers across the United States.
