Net Neutrality Rider Hitchhikes with Spending Bill

Net neutrality supporters, along with many Democrats, were left woeful after the Senate Appropriations Committee passed a spending bill that affected the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). Wisconsin Supreme Court Cuts Prosecution Fishing Expedition Line

Governor Scott Walker received a huge victory last Thursday from the Wisconsin Supreme Court after a blatant abuse of power demonstrated by Democrat prosecutor, John Chisholm. Windy City Gets Blown Over With New Tax

A new tax is being imposed on Chicagoans in the name of fairness. Residents who pay to stream movies and music on sites such as Netflix and Spotify will be charged an additional 9% for using those services. The added costs come from a ruling of the Finance Department. Implementing the new charges will be an expansive reach of two types of governing taxes already in place known as the city amusement tax and the city personal property lease transaction tax in order to cover products used by businesses and residents alike.

Meet the Nine Usurpers in Black Robes

The newly handed-down Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act has garnered a great deal of debate. The 6-3 vote in favor of the administration does nothing to fix the unworkable flaws that remain and continue to largely define Obamacare. No matter the lens used to view the ACA, the prognosis is bad.

Internet consumers beware!

The internet has undergone a great deal of change lately, ranging from being subject to new net neutrality regulations that reclassified the internet as a common carrier. It only seems fitting that with all this new, though not necessarily good, change there should be a new tax implemented somewhere.

Net Neutrality Regulations Make Their Debut

At precisely 12:01 am Friday, the new net neutrality regulations took effect after the D.C. Appeals Court declined petitioner’s request for a delay in the case. The day prior, a three-judge panel ruled the petitioners failed to satisfy the stringent requirements for a stay pending review. Had the stay been granted, the new rules would have been put on hold until the broader court battle is settled.

Internet remains tax free, for now...

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 235, better known as the Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act (PITFA). The pro-consumer legislation received bipartisan support that permanently bans multiple and discriminatory taxes at the state and local levels on internet access services. The House bill was sponsored by Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and had 188 co-sponsors and 50 senators supporting a similar bill in the Senate.
