Supreme Court Upholds Unconstitutional Law Allowing Police to Take DNA Samples Without Warrant

Monday was a bad day for the Fourth Amendment. The Supreme Court ruled in Maryland v. King, by a vote of 5-4, that it is constitutional for police to take DNA swabs of felony arrestees--who have not yet been convicted of anything--without a warrant. Yikes. All freedom lovers should be disappointed in the SCOTUS’ wrong decision: it’s a violation of our individual liberty and just downright creepy.

Keep the IRS Away From Our Health Care

In the wake of the reports that the International Revenue Service inappropriately targeted groups based on their political views, do we really want the IRS in charge of our health care?

Fiscal Conservatives vs. GOP Establishment on Debt Ceiling

Big spending politicians in Washington consider the debt ceiling limit to be pesky and annoying.  They despise the legislative restriction on the amount of national debt that can be issued by the Treasury. Instead, they would rather spend to their hearts' (and lobbyists’) content and not be subjected to debates on whether raising the amount of money that the U.S. can legally borrow is destructive to the nation’s financial stability. (Hint: a nation $16.7 trillion in debt is not sustainable).

Stop CISPA! Vote TODAY.

CISPA is back! The dangerous bill would void all current Internet privacy laws to allow companies to share your private information (including emails and Internet browsing history!) with the National Security Agency (NSA) without a warrant. The current bill does not require companies to make any reasonable efforts to strip out personal details from the information they share with the government.

DC Mayor Vincent Gray has proposed cruel food truck regulations that would severely hurt small business owners in the District. Republican Senators that Have NOT Cosponsored Audit the Fed

Senator Rand Paul has reintroduced legislation to audit the Federal Reserve in the Senate. The bill, S. 209, currently has 24 cosponsors. This legislation is important because the people deserve to know who the Federal Reserve is bailing out behind closed doors. Here are the Republicans that have not cosponsored the audit the Fed bill yet. Please call them or tweet at them and politely ask them to cosponsor S. 209!

Stand with Rand Paul Against Domestic Drone Strikes

Senator Rand Paul showed a great amount of courage when he filibustered John Brennan’s appointment for CIA director on the Senate floor yesterday, following the Obama administration’s refusal to answer whether or not it is constitutional for the government to kill U.S. citizens on U.S. soil with drones. The answer should be simple: no. It is a blatant violation of the Constitution and it stands against everything this country was founded on for the government to kill any citizen without a trial or due process.

Iowa Lawmakers Propose Increase in Gas Tax

Lawmakers and lobbyists in Iowa are pushing for an additional 10 cent per gallon gasoline tax, on top of the 21 cent gas tax already in place. Raising the gas tax, especially in this stalled economy, would hurt Iowa families by forcing them to pay even more at the gas pump. This proposed tax would be particularly cruel since the average gas price in Iowa is a whopping $3.70 per gallon.
