Department of Labor Makes Retirement Saving Easier

One of the main features of the economy under COVID-19 has been the absolute unpredictability of the stock market. Americans everywhere are struggling to save money, especially for retirement. Luckily, the Department of Labor (DoL) is instituting a change that will allow ordinary investors to get more bang for their buck for their defined contribution retirement plans, including 401(k) plans.

Strong Economic Numbers Mean Congress Has to Pause Spending

BY Adam Brandon

The tide has turned in the economy. Jobs are coming back and Americans are returning to work. The latest figures make it clear that the nation is on the road to recovery, with a substantial decline in unemployment. In keeping with the trend under President Trump of surpassing expectations, the jobs report blew previous predictions out of the water. Instead of 8 million additional lost jobs, as some predicted, gross employment rose by more than 2 million jobs, and unemployment fell to 13 percent. What could be next?

Key Vote Against Waiving Budgetary Points of Order on the Great American Outdoors Act

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to vote against waiving budgetary points of order on the Great American Outdoors Act. Originally, FreedomWorks had planned to score in support of amendments offered by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.). The Enzi amendment would have offset the costs of the deferred maintenance backlog provisions of the Great Americans Outdoors Act and the Braun amendment would have prevented unrelated spending increases in the future.

Faces of the American Freedom Initiative's National Pardon Project: Chad Marks

FreedomWorks recently announced the launch of the American Freedom Initiative (AFI), a collaboration headed by former acting U.S. Attorney General Matt Whitaker. This project aims to help relieve injustices committed against Americans under the criminal justice system and the regulatory state. As part of this project, we will shine a spotlight on some of the individuals the AFI has identified under its National Pardon Project as being particularly hard hit by unjustly harsh criminal sentences for non-violent crimes.

FISA Abuse Will Continue if Congressional Leaders Get Their Way

BY Jason Pye and Brett Tolman

With the reauthorization of expired portions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act poised to sail through the House of Representatives to await his signature, President Trump radically changed the game with just a few words on Twitter: “WARRANTLESS SURVEILLANCE OF AMERICANS IS WRONG!”

Support the Paycheck Protection Program Second Chance Act, S. 3865

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to cosponsor the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Second Chance Act, S. 3865, introduced by Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and cosponsored by Sens. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), and Cory Booker (D-N.J.). The PPP Second Chance Act would fix a glaring issue with Small Business Administration’s (SBA) implementation of the PPP in which the SBA was over-broadly discriminating against businesses owners who have a past criminal record.
