Over 30 years ago, then-presidential candidate George H.W. Bush stood onstage at the Republican National Convention and infamously promised, “Read my lips, no new taxes.” That promise may have won him the election, but it was also his undoing as he would later sign a budget reconciliation bill that included tax increases.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to Democrats including $50,000 refundable annual tax credits for journalists in their partisan, $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package, Adam Brandon, President of FreedomWorks, commented:
On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to vote NO on the Continuing Resolution to provide funding for Fiscal Year 2022 through December 3rd. This resolution would simultaneously provide continuing appropriations for federal functions after the expiration of the fiscal year on October 1st, and suspend the debt limit to allow the Treasury to finance these appropriations through continued borrowing.
