Audit the Fed May (Hopefully!) Be Included in the GOP Platform

The movement to audit the Federal Reserve has come a long way over the past couple of years. According to Business Insider, there is a good chance that audit the Fed will be part of the official party platform in August:

A GOP source tells Business Insider that the Republican Party is seriously considering including support for an audit of the Federal Reserve in the party’s platform this year, a move that would enshrine Paul’s signature policy in the Republican Party doctrine for at least the next four years.

Wow, how things have changed since 2008!

The fact that the GOP is strongly considering placing it in their platform is a huge victory in and of itself. This just goes to show that auditing the Fed is both good policy and good politics. While the Republican platform may be non-binding, it is a big step towards achieving a comprehensive audit of the Fed.

Of course, we must always hold Republicans’ feet to the fire.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has announced that Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill, H.R. 459, will be voted on Tues 7/24, Wed 7/25, or Thurs 7/26.  Click here to politely call your representative and urge him or her to vote YES on H.R. 459.
