On August 26, 11 United States Marines, one soldier in the Army, and one Navy medic were killed in an attack outside of the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
The loss of these thirteen American service members as they evacuated countless innocents to safety will forever serve as a reminder of the human cost of war. We must never forget their sacrifice and the sacrifice of every American lost in Afghanistan during the past two decades.
Unfortunately, the situation in Afghanistan continues to unfold, with countless Americans and our Afghan allies stranded behind enemy lines as the Pentagon announced on Monday that the last U.S. military plane has left Kabul.
But if you believed the lies from the White House, you would think everything is going well.
It is evident that the administration’s strategy isn’t working, as President Biden has recently taken a hit in public opinion polls. Millions of Americans rightly don’t trust this administration to give us the truth on what’s happening in Afghanistan.
According to RealClearPolitics, Joe Biden’s approval rating recently sunk below his disapproval rating for the first time since the start of his presidency. Roughly 49% of Americans disapprove of the job Biden is doing, compared to 46.6% who approve.
A USA Today and Suffolk University poll released on August 24 was particularly unfavorable for Biden, with just 41% of Americans approving of his performance, compared to 55% saying they disapproved.
Biden’s plummeting approval rating, and rising disapproval rating, has been a trend since the beginning of his presidency. And given the events of recent weeks, it’s no surprise that voters are growing increasingly dissatisfied with this failed administration.
During his time in office, Biden has either refused to address the issues Americans care most about, or actively made these problems worse. Inflation recently hit its highest point in decades, which explains why only 39% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the economy.
But instead of working to fix this, Biden is pushing for a multi-trillion dollar socialist spending spree. Biden’s radical $3.5 trillion budget proposal, on top of his $1.2 trillion “infrastructure” bill, would send inflation through the roof if passed.
That’s not all. Illegal border crossings have reached their highest point in 21 years, which is why a mere 25% of Americans polled approve of President Biden’s handling of immigration.
Given all of this, is it surprising that only one in three Americans believes our country is headed in the right direction?
It’s sad that rather than giving the American people what they want, President Biden and his leftist allies in Congress have chosen to push a divisive, unpopular, and costly agenda.
One such agenda item for progressive Democrats is yet another electoral power grab, H.R. 4. This bill is their back-up plan to their bill which failed in the Senate, H.R. 1. Laughably titled the “For the People Act,” H.R. 1 would have emboldened corrupt politicians and damaged election integrity.
Similar to H.R. 1, H.R. 4 would weaken the security of our elections by putting states that pass election integrity laws under the thumb of President Biden’s Department of Justice. This is not only unconstitutional, but it’s the exact opposite of what Americans support.
A recent poll from the Honest Elections Project shows that nearly two thirds of Americans want to strengthen election safeguards, including 77% of Americans who support requiring photo ID to vote.
Just like H.R. 1, H.R. 4 would make it almost impossible for states to implement basic election integrity measures, including voter ID requirements. H.R. 4 would clear the way for fraud and permanently undermine trust in America’s election results.
President Biden’s failures are too numerous to count. From undermining election security and the economy, to botching the withdrawal from Afghanistan, it’s clear why Biden continues to lose support from voters.
Joe Biden has failed America during his time in office, and Americans know it.
