CSE Urges U.S. House to Support Spending Vetoes Letter

CSE Economic Scorecard Notice:
Help Stop Runaway Government Spending by Cosigning Letter in Support of Presidential Vetoes

U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
February 26, 2004

Dear Representative:

Spending is out of control, but the President and some leaders in Congress are committed to putting America’s fiscal house back in order.

Representative Chris Cox (R-Ca.) is circulating a letter to President Bush that pledges support for a Presidential veto of any bill that includes unnecessary spending. It’s very important that President Bush knows that a large number of Representatives will support him in the budget battles ahead this year.

The letter to President Bush reads, “To help you control spending during the remainder of the 108th Congress, we will vote to sustain any veto you exercise on the basis that the legislation you veto would result in unnecessary spending.”

The letter is a clear statement, and 98 Representatives have already signed on. We applaud those Members who have already signed the letter, and we urge all other Members to contact Rep. Cox at x-5611 for more information and to sign the letter.

CSE WILL RATE SIGNING THE LETTER IN OUR ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL CSE ECONOMIC SCORECARD.

Spending restraint will become a reality if the President and Congress work together. CSE urges members to support Rep. Christopher Cox’s efforts to help the President stop runaway government spending.

Sincerely,

Paul Beckner
President
