Cuba has been going through a summer of discontent. Thousands of protestors have emerged to condemn the dictatorship’s mishandling of the economy and its continuing food shortages, blackouts, and massive COVID outbreaks. The anguished cries for freedom against the severe, miserable living conditions are the greatest in years.

This week marks the 184th anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Unfortunately, although it remains an event of massive importance to my home state, the events that transpired at Washington-on-the-Brazos during the Convention of 1836 have largely gone ignored by the rest of the country. This is unfortunate, for there are many important lessons about governance and liberty that can be learned from the Texas Revolution.

FreedomWorks is proud to announce that our bill of the month for August 2019 is the anti-socialism resolution, S.Res. 289, introduced by Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), which expresses “the sense of the Senate that socialism poses a significant threat to freedom, liberty, and economic prosperity.”

As the economy begins to take off as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the next big thing we're going to see is a need for workers.

We are proud to award Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-Ky.) bill to abolish the Department of Education, H.R. 899, as FreedomWorks’ Bill of the Month for March. His bill, only a sentence long in length, reads, “The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018.”
