FreedomWorks and Allied Organizations Deliver Coalition Letter to House Leadership Urging Support for FISA Reform via Daines-Wyden Amendment

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Monday, the ACLU, Demand Progress, and FreedomWorks released a coalition letter with over 50 organizations signing that demands that House leadership add language to require a warrant for accessing Americans’ internet search and browser history to the FISA reauthorization bill that was sent to them by the Senate. Jason Pye, FreedomWorks' Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

“Most Americans would probably be stunned to learn that Section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act could allow the government to access their incredibly revealing internet records without even the basic due process of having to demonstrate probable cause.”

“The Senate amendment by Senators Daines and Wyden that would have fixed this would have passed if all senators were in town, and would easily pass a second time. It ought to be an absolute no-brainer for Speaker Pelosi and Leader McCarthy to finish the job on this basic, essential reform.”
