FreedomWorks to Congress: Stop Obama’s Midnight Regulations

Following the introduction of the Midnight Rule Relief Act by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), FreedomWorks Legislative Affairs Manager Josh Withrow commented:

“Today, Americans face a nearly $1.9 trillion regulatory burden, the costs of which are passed on in the form of higher prices for consumers and lost opportunities for businesses and employees. These regulations are an unseen tax on virtually everything we buy or consume. Perhaps now, more than ever, Americans are seeing the excesses of unchecked executive power and the negative impact it has on the economy, which is still struggling to gain momentum due to Barack Obama’s policies.”

“Lame-duck presidents are notorious for forcing through rules shortly before they leave office through executive level agencies and their armies of unelected bureaucrats who promulgate the regulations without any real oversight. The Midnight Rule Relief Act would provide a meaningful check on executive power and prevent outgoing administrations from ramming through their last-minute, often politically-motivated agendas.”
