FreedomWorks’ Congressman of the Month – Jody Hice

FreedomWorks is pleased to name Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) as our Congressman of the Month for September 2016 for his continued dedication to promoting Congressional principles, a balanced budget, conservative values, and limited government.

Earlier this summer, Rep. Hice was presented with the FreedomWorks FreedomFighter award for the legislation he presented and the votes he made in the 2015 congressional year. With a FreedomWorks lifetime scorecard rating of 100 percent, Rep. Hice is a reliable and consistent combatant for the taxpayers, economic success, and the Constitution.

Rep. Hice has demonstrated his commitment to conservative values by his membership in the House Freedom Caucus, a group of House members dedicated to conservative policy and challenging the establishment status quo. Rep. Hice is a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where he has worked to help get the size of government under control.

In an effort to make that a reality, Rep. Hice introduced H.R. 5687, the GAO Mandates Revision Act of 2016. This legislation would “cut spending by the Government Accountability Office by dropping a requirement that it produces reports it no longer feels are necessary.” It could save as much as $1 million a year. This type of legislation is needed to start to get the size and scope of the government under control.

The Congressman also cosponsored H.R.5226, the Regulatory Integrity Act of 2016, legislation which would push back against the regulatory state by making proposed regulatory actions more transparent and easier for the taxpayer to battle against. Rep. Hice is also a cosponsor of H.Res.494, a resolution to impeach John Koskinen, the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, for high crimes and misdemeanors such as stonewalling Congress in its investigations of politically-motivated wrongdoing at the IRS.

As a member of the House Freedom Caucus, Rep. Hice is a legislator who isn’t afraid of tough fights. He uses his committee assignments to defend for the Constitution and the taxpayers. Rep. Hice exemplifies the principles of smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, personal liberty, and the rule of law. He stands for the issues and policies that are not only important to the people in his own district, but for the rest of the nation as well. FreedomWorks is proud to name Rep. Jody Hice as the FreedomWorks Congressman of the Month for September 2016.
