WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the end of the open public comment period for the IRS docket on donor reporting, Daniel Savickas, FreedomWorks Foundation Regulatory Policy Manager, commented:
“FreedomWorks Foundation is proud to announce that our Regulatory Action Center drove over 3,100 comments in support of the administration’s IRS privacy proposal. These comments accounted for 37.5 percent of all public comments submitted to the docket. This demonstrates the passion of the conservative grassroots and the importance of this issue.
“Patriotic Americans across the country and across the political spectrum donate proudly to the causes they care about. Not a single one of them should have to be afraid of harassment because their identities and locations were made public. There is no tax reason the IRS needs the donor information for 501(c)(4) organizations. We are glad the agency recognizes the need to keep this information private for the protection of free speech in America.”
The mission of FreedomWorks is to build, educate, and mobilize the largest network of activists advocating the principles of smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, personal liberty, and the rule of law.
