WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the recently revealed provisions of the “bipartisan” infrastructure deal related to broadband, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:
“The broadband provisions included in the so-called ‘bipartisan’ infrastructure bill are a disastrous grab-bag of big government policies. From rate regulation to support for government owned networks (GON’s), no self-respecting conservative should support this package.
“Supposed ‘bipartisanship’ has been used as a Trojan horse to convince Republicans to support policies that are antithetical to small-government principles.
“Closing the digital divide is an essential goal for spurring economic growth and prosperity in our country, and the private sector has made--and will continue to make--remarkable strides toward this goal. The way to connect Americans is not through expanded bureaucracy and more red tape. Merely throwing money at the problem isn’t a tenable solution either. Republican members should see this infrastructure deal for what it is and strongly voice their opposition to these socialist policies.”
