FreedomWorks Foundation Statement in Response to New WOTUS Definition

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Trump administration redefining what constitutes a navigable Water of the United States (WOTUS), Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“This move by the Trump administration marks another promise made and another promise kept. The President promised to drain the DC swamp and unwrap the red tape from around the American people. The WOTUS rule is one of the more invasive federal regulations on the books, and it is past time for it to be redefined.

“Under previous definitions, government bureaucrats were given license to infringe on the property rights of rural Americans who had so much as a standing puddle on their land, claiming this constituted a navigable waterway. During this administration, FreedomWorks activists drove roughly 8,000 comments in support of the change. We thank the Trump administration for restoring some sanity on this issue that impacts so many across our nation.”
