FreedomWorks Foundation Statement in Response to New York Proposed Ban on Flavored E-Cigarette Products

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the New York state legislature’s consideration of a package of legislation that would implement a state-wide ban on flavored e-cigarette and vaping products, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

“Once again, New York goes above and beyond to demonstrate they are indeed the ‘nanny state.’ Studies show that vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking. New York’s proposal to ban flavored e-cigarette products is bad for consumers, particularly longtime tobacco users who desire e-cigarette products as a means to quit smoking.

“New York should instead leave it up to consumers to make their own health decisions, especially those who wish to quit smoking. We urge members of the committee to resist passing legislation that infringes on personal liberty and will interfere with the personal health decisions of their constituents.”
