FreedomWorks Grassroots Activists Drive Over 6,000 Comments to EPA/NHTSA in Support of Proposed CAFE Standards Rule Change

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last Friday, October 26 marked the end of the EPA and NHTSA’s comment period on the proposed changes to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard. As part of a FreedomWorks Regulatory Action Center (RAC) initiative, grassroots activists nationwide submitted more than 6,000 unique comments in support of proposed changes to the CAFE and greenhouse gas emission standards. FreedomWorks leads the effort amongst free-market grassroots groups working to support the Trump administration’s deregulatory agenda that puts American consumers and businesses first.

Patrick Hedger, FreedomWorks Director of Policy, commented:

"For thousands of activists to take time and write comments on this issue shows there is strong conservative support for the kind of realistic regulation the Trump administration is pursuing. These shouldn’t be controversial ideas.”

“First, we shouldn’t reinterpret laws to give one state more power over another, especially one as radical as California. Second, making cars safer and more affordable by giving automakers more flexibility won’t just save lives and improve our economy, it will also help the environment by getting Americans into newer and cleaner cars."

“Americans are quite familiar with writing their Member of Congress. Now, thanks to FreedomWorks Foundation, Americans have greater access to their unelected bureaucrats in Washington to help dial back the size and scope of the federal government.”
