FreedomWorks, Other Free Market Groups Launch UnlockTheNet.com

FreedomWorks has joined other free market groups concerned about Title II regulations of the Internet to launch a new website to spur activism on the issue.

The following groups collaborated with FreedomWorks to create UnlockTheNet.com: American Commitment, Americans for Prosperity, American for Tax Reform, Center for Individual Freedom, Digital Liberty, National Taxpayers Union, Taxpayers Protection Alliance, 60 Plus Association, The American Conservative Union, Consumer Action for a Strong Economy, Competitive Enterprise Institute, Citizens Against Government Waste, Institute for Policy Innovation, Less Government, and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council.

FreedomWorks President Adam Brandon released the following statement:

“This site is a resource for those who support a free and open Internet, not one strapped with needless regulations from government, a solution without a problem. In America, we have multiple Internet providers, access to everything under the sun, and just about everyone can get on the Internet in one way or another.

“The free market is an amazing thing, as is the Internet that has operated for decades without the heavy hand of government. It started out with a few users and computers that took up entire rooms, and it now has over 3 billion users, most of which can access it from a phone. Unless you want the Internet to work more like the VA, the DMV, and the post office, let’s keep the Internet free from burdensome regulations.”

UnlockTheNet.com will provide valuable information about the Internet before the implementation of Title II in 2014, myths and facts, and allow activists to take action to help secure a free and open Internet.
