FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Democrats Undermining the Independence of the Judiciary

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to House and Senate Democrats’ introduction of the Judiciary Act of 2021, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“For the past four years, Democrats cried wolf about the purported undermining of our republican institutions. Now, after less than 100 days in power, Democrats, with their bill to increase the size of the Supreme Court, have made clear they will do anything to change the rules to satisfy their endless quest for power. Let’s be clear — Democrats have absolutely no moral high ground or established precedent to rely on.

“In fact, just yesterday, Democrats on the House Judiciary voted down an amendment that would have kept the size of the Supreme Court at nine justices. Court packing is bound to ignite a race to the bottom, yet Democrats have the audacity to claim that it is in the best interest of all Americans. In reality, they see court packing as a means to consolidate power and forever compromise the independence of the judiciary.”
