Welcome to this week’s Regulatory Action Center (RAC) Review! RAC proudly keeps you up to date on what we’re up to and what we’re keeping our eyes on here in the swamp. We offer resources for you to get involved in the rulemaking process to hold unelected bureaucrats accountable and occasionally offer praise in the event they have a good impulse. We will also highlight the incredible work our activists have done to advance the principles of smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, personal liberty, and the rule of law. FreedomWorks is proud to honor Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) as our member of the month for November 2020. Representing the state of Montana, which is one of nine states with a split Senate delegation, Senator Daines serves his state alongside the far inferior Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.). Always a staunch defender of liberty, it is no surprise that Sen. Daines’ slogan is “More Jobs. Less Government.” We could not agree more, and we thank the senator for standing up for his principles.

FreedomWorks is proud to announce that our bill of the month for October 2020 is the National Patient Identifier Repeal Act, S. 2538, introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). The National Patient Identifier Repeal Act seeks to repeal a dangerous section of the law that could require the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to create a national patient ID system. Such a system would present an unprecedented threat to patient security and privacy across the country.

“America will never be a socialist nation,” President Trump proudly proclaimed in his 2019 State of the Union Address. Sadly, as each day of this coronavirus pandemic wears on, these words seem to grow less and less prophetic. Just as we think we’ve reached our capacity for government intrusions into the daily lives of Americans, we’re reminded that we may not have even scraped the surface.

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to cosponsor the Pandemic Pay-For Act, S. 4487. Introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the Pandemic Pay-For Act would pay for the $2.4 trillion of COVID-19 spending that Congress has passed by freezing federal spending at FY 2021 levels through FY 2024.

FreedomWorks is proud to honor Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) as our member of the month for August 2020. Representing the corridor of Ohio along the Indiana border north of Cincinnati and west of Dayton and Columbus since 2016, Davidson’s predecessor in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District was none other than former Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio). Unlike Boehner, Davidson has not only been a 100 percent vote on FreedomWorks’ scorecard for over 4 years, he has been out front leading on several fronts to protect our liberties from the government leviathan.

FreedomWorks is proud to announce that our bill of the month for July 2020 is the Processing Revival and Intrastate Meat Exemption (PRIME) Act, H.R. 2859 and S. 1620, introduced in the House by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) and in the Senate by Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Angus King (I-Maine). This bipartisan legislation would loosen restrictions so that meat processed in a state-licensed facility can be sold locally -- without regulation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) -- in an effort to help address issues with our meat supply chain that have become glaringly obvious during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past few weeks, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has continued to prove that he is a leader when it matters. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, bill after bill has been rushed through Congress, without ample input from members and with too many items in them to be good.
