This bill reforms Ohio’s sentencing laws for low-level, nonviolent offenses and focuses limited prison resources and severe, mandatory minimum sentences for high-level drug traffickers. FreedomWorks supports this approach. To this effect, our activists have sent 27,207 messages in support of Senate Bill 3 to Ohio state legislators over the past year and a half.

Since Judge Amy Coney Barrett was nominated to serve on the Supreme Court, Joe Biden and Senate Democrats have repeatedly said that Barrett would be a vote to strike down the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which most of us know as Obamacare.

Over the weekend, Sam Berger of the Center for American Progress tried to make the claim that Republicans had packed federal courts with conservative nominees by confirming circuit court judges. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) made a similar statement on Sunday during an appearance on Meet the Press. “The American people have watched the Republicans packing the court for the past three and a half years,” he said, “and they brag about it.”

On Friday, FreedomWorks led a coalition letter to House and Senate Republican leadership and the White House from 12 state and national policy organizations as well as nearly two dozen state legislators and candidates nationwide expressing the need for Congress and the administration to bypass half-measures of school choice in favor of instead putting dollars in the hands of families now. Put simply, any educational relief -- new or existing -- should be funneled directly to families instead of channeled into systems. The text of the letter and signers can be found below. On Saturday, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. In October 2017, Barrett was confirmed by a vote of 54 to 42 to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Prior to her service on the federal bench, Barrett was a law professor at Notre Dame Law School, where she received her law degree. She clerked for Judge Laurence Silberman at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and for Justice Antonin Scalia at the U.S. Supreme Court.
