FreedomWorks Statement in Support of Florida Criminal Justice Reform Legislative Push

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the criminal justice reform package introduced in the Florida State Legislature by Sen. Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg), Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

“Florida is making the right decision to advance conservative criminal justice reform that ensures that high risk, violent offenders remain behind bars, while making sure that low-risk offenders receive the resources necessary to prevent recidivism. These are common sense reforms that have been employed in Red states across the country to great effect, resulting in reduced crime rates and improved public safety. To be smart on crime is to be hard on crime, and Sen. Brandes’ criminal justice reform package reinforces exactly that.”
