Dear FreedomWorks member,
As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to vote YES on the Toomey-Shaheen sugar program reform amendment (#925) to the Farm Bill, S. 954. The special treatment of the sugar industry in the farm bill is among the most egregious examples of corporate welfare anywhere in the federal code.
While it does not fully repeal the sugar program, which would be preferable, this bipartisan amendment substantially improve the current state of affairs by rolling back many expansions of the program. Among the most important reforms is the repeal of the Feedstock Flexibility Program, which subsidizes sugar to be used for creating ethanol.
I urge you to call your U.S. Senators and ask them to vote YES on the Toomey-Shaheen Amendment #925 to the Farm Bill, S. 954. We may score this amendment vote as a KEY VOTE when calculating the FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard for 2013. The scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the FreedomFighter Award, which recognizes Members of Congress with voting records that support economic freedom.
Sincerely,
Matt Kibbe,
President and CEO

I am new to Freedom works. I have never thought I would ever get involved in something as important as this but I am terrified. My state (New Mexico) is becoming more and more progressive and it scares me. I have looked for groups in my area but can not find anyone. I am doing what I can on my part by trying to get the word out. I am a homemaker that raised five children and I have to do this for them and my future grandchildren.
Is there any other Santa Feans out there?
You mean your states are actually "progressing"? Oh no! How terrible! The country is in fact progressing. That is indeed a fact. Its a good thing. Get used to it.
Maria, I am not from New Mexico. I am from West Virginia and my state is also getting more and more liberal, that's why I joined FreedomWorks. Thank you for taking the time to see how things are going downhill and doing something about it. You must be a great mom. Keep fighting for yourself and your kids. Glad to have you with us.
